In the Historic Quarter of our community lies the HISTORIC CORNWALL GAOL ('old" English for Jail).
A limestone building, built in 1833, the Cornwall Jail was in continuous operation until 2002. Left in its original condition, we invite you to take a unique tour and see what life was like behind bars. Imagine, inmates serving time in this facility only a few years ago!
Experience fingerprinting; feel what it was like to be inside a cell; check out the gallows that was used until 1954.
Hear stories based on interviews with past inmates, guards and jail personnel.
